'Celebration of life' | Dudley Hair Care co-founder laid to rest

Hundreds of people came out to pay their respects to Dr. Joe Dudley Sr., co-founder of Dudley Hair Care.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — It was an emotional day for the family and friends of a Triad business pioneer who recently died.

Hundreds of people came out to pay their respects to Dr. Joe Dudley Sr. at his funeral services on Monday.

Dudley was known for co-founding Dudley Hair Care with his wife.

Dudley's son, Joe Junior said his father's accomplishments are an inspiration for black businesses.

"Well, it's no question that he made a great impact on black entrepreneurship. We are here to inspire people so that they can do it and can make it, knowing they don't have to do it by themselves," his son said.

Others who knew him well said Dudley's life extended beyond his company.

"Today is a celebration. Today is a celebration of life for Dr. Joe L. Dudley Sr. He's an incredible man who has helped people all over the world discover who they are and their possibilities," Terrie Clawson, Director of International Sales of Dudley Beauty Corp. said.

Dr. Dudley was 86 years old.
