CLEMMONS, N.C. -- Maybe it was on the search for honey or picnic baskets, but a bear was spotted strolling around Clemmons on Wednesday afternoon.
Lt. Morris with Forsyth County Animal Control says the bear was spotted crossing Highway 421, then Lewisville-Clemmons Road, then it was spotted near Ronni's Restaurant. Animal Control Officers monitored the areas earlier
Jeremy tweeted this photo to us of the bear. He says his son snapped this photo on Wednesday of the bear near Three Bulls Steakhouse.
Lt. Morris says if you see a bear, just leave it alone and walk away. He also says bears can be attracted to birdseed and trash - so do your best to keep trash covered if you have to leave it outside.
Animal Control says this is the first bear sighting in the county this year. Lt. Morris says bear sightings are off and on for the area, but animal control usually gets one call every year about them.
On Thursday, the bear was also seen in Winston-Salem. The Winston-Salem Police Department asks that you leave the bear alone. The bear will not be relocated unless it becomes aggressive.
