WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem police arrested two men accused of shooting and killing someone during a robbery.
Police said Daniel Vega, 29, and Joaquin Rodriguez Jr., 32, were both charged with felony murder and felony robbery with a dangerous weapon. Both men were arrested by SWAT officers and U.S. Marshals without incident on Tuesday.
The shooting happened early Sunday morning on E. Devonshire Street. Police said 25-year-old Jassy Salinas was shot. EMS tried to save his life, but he died at the scene.
The suspects received no bond when they appeared before a court magistrate.
This marks the 39th homicide in Winston-Salem of 2023 compared to 28 homicides during the same time frame in 2022.
