FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — A Forsyth County deputy was injured during a traffic stop Friday.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said one of their deputies initiated a traffic stop on U.S. 52 south between Westinghouse Road and Moore-RJR Drive shortly before 7:30 a.m.
While the deputy was speaking with the driver of the stopped car, another car passing by hit the stopped car and the deputy.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said the deputy was conscious and alert when EMS arrived and the deputy was taken to a hospital.
North Carolina Highway Patrol said the deputy has non-life-threatening injures.
Deputies said the people in the stopped vehicle and the driver that hit the stopped vehicle were not seriously injured.
North Carolina Highway Patrol identified the driver of the car - a Saturn- that struck the deputy and the stopped car as Dallas Lee Moser, 36, from Mount Airy.
Troopers said Moser was cited for carless and reckless driving.
North Carolina Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident.
