Deputies search for 2 missing girls in Haywood County

HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C. — The Haywood County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in finding two missing girls.

Deputies said an Amber Alert was issued for Alazay Shelby Rose, 12, and Kinley Maelena Stepp, 3.

Alazay Shelby Rose was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans and Kinley Maelena Stepp was last seen wearing a pink shirt and blue jeans.

Deputies said the children are believed to be with Jacob Grant Aaron Stepp, 46. He is 6 feet tall, weighs 200 pounds and has brown hair and green eyes, and has a tattoo on both shoulders.

Deputies said they were taken from the 90 block of Ben Medford Dr. in Waynesville. 

Law enforcement believes they are possibly in the area of Cherokee Tribal in a 2016 White Dodge Challenger with black racing stripes with an NC license tag number of KMC5951. Deputies said the tag is fictitious.
