Woman found dead inside a car in Kernersville

When officers arrived, they found a woman unresponsive inside a car.

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Police said a death investigation is underway in Kernersville.

Kernersville police said they responded to a welfare check on the 800 block of Old Winston Road on November 15 around 4 p.m.

When officers arrived, they discovered Sherry Gaye Standridge, 61, unresponsive inside a car.

Police said Standridge was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel.

The Kernersville Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Standridge's death.

Officers said there is no danger to the community.
