GREENSBORO, N.C. — Editor's note: This story was originally written in 2021 when the crash happened. We have updated it with new information on the not-guilty verdict.
A Guilford County jury found a woman not guilty in a deadly crash on I-40 in 2021.
On September 12, Priya Hairston was found not guilty on two counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, one count of driving left of center, and one count of speeding.
The crash happened back in June 2021 on I-40 west near McConnell Road in Greensboro.
Police said Hairston, 19 at the time, crossed the median from the east side of the highway and hit two cars head-on. Other cars were involved in the crash as well.
The driver of a Kia, 51-year-old Lisa Tate, and her passenger, 17-year-old Victoria Padilla, died in the crash. Police said a third juvenile who was in the car had injuries. The people in the other cars involved were not hurt.
