HIGH POINT, N.C. — A woman is dead after a crash on I-74 in High Point Friday, police say.

Officers responded to I-74 Eastbound at Eastchester Drive just before noon.

Investigators said the driver, 67-year-old Janet Edkins, was either stopped or driving slowly in the middle lane of I-74 when the driver of a Toyota van crashed into her. Edkins died at the scene, police said.

A passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the van was not injured either.

The crash is still being investigated by High Point police.
