DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — 12 students were on board a school bus when it crashed in Davidson County Wednesday morning.
The crash happened shortly after 7:30 a.m.
Davidson County Schools initially stated that the Tyro Elementary School bus had 7 students on board when it crashed trying to avoid an oncoming car in the bus's lane.
However, after an investigation by the NC State Highway Patrol, it was discovered that there were no other cars involved in the incident.
The bus driver, Kristi Park, has since been charged with failure to maintain lanes according to the NC State Highway Patrol.
The school system says there are no injuries that needed treatment or transportation by EMS personnel who responded to the scene. Parents of the students were notified.
