Daughter arrested for killing her mother in Kernersville

A 74-year-old woman was found suffering a head injury inside her home in Kernersville.

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — A woman is charged for the murder of her mother in Kernersville, police say.

Police said they arrived at a home on Buckview Court just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday about a domestic disturbance.

Investigators found 74-year-old Linda Turner Terrell inside suffering from trauma to her head. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Her daughter, Michelle Denise DeGuzman, 51, was arrested for the murder of her mother. DeGuzman was taken to the Forsyth County Detention Center and is currently being held without bond.

Police said this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.

WFMY News 2 went into the community, a neighbor told us Terrell left an everlasting impression. Randall Thomas who lives across the street said the news comes as the shock.

"She {Terrell} was such a added bonus to the neighborhood, we talked to her many times and she would talk about how much work they were doing to the house and making it beautiful," Thomas said.

Police have not told us what the motive is behind the alleged murder or if DeGuzman will face additional charges.
