Classmates honor the lives of three teens who died in Walker Ave. car crash

Two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old crashed into a Greensboro patrol car while traveling the wrong way

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Friends, family and community members gathered today to remember the lives of the three teens killed in a car crash.

Two 14-year-olds -- Kenyan Saxton-Reese and Brandon Bowie Jr. -- and a 15-year-old crashed into a Greensboro Police patrol car while traveling the wrong way during a pursuit in the early morning of July 17.

It was a somber scene -- with family members gathering -- hugging -- crying -- and speaking about the three teens.

They also released balloons into the air in their honor.

We got the chance to talk to a few of their middle school classmates about where their minds are now -- and what they remember the most about the teens.

"I'm still in shock, I still can't believe it. But I'm very glad to see all these people support us and came here to show love to them, so we can forever... forever remember them," said one classmante.

"I knew Brandon, he was... everybody was real close to him, he would always make somebody smile, he always had something good to say, he would make you laugh every day, even when you was upset," said another.

"And the last one I met this year in 8th grade, he was very funny and he made everyone smile, as soon as you saw his face, his face was like bright every single day,"  one classmate remarked.

"None of them deserved to go out like that. Even if they wasn't the best type of people, they were just kids. They didn't even get to see what high school was like. So I feel like every other kid has to learn from that," said another.

Greensboro police told us that the officer involved in the crash who was seriously injured was released from the hospital this week.
