LEXINGTON — The Davidson County Sheriff's Office recently received four K-9 bullet resistant vests as a donation.

Tim and Shelia Ward of Holly Grove, NC donated the vests in light of the deaths of seven K-9s throughout the United States earlier this year.

The Wards called Lead K-9 handler Lt. Frank Young and offered to provide the vests.

In an email, Sheriff David Grice said he was thankful to the Wards for their generosity.

"Sheriff Grice and the Sheriff's Office K-9 handlers greatly appreciate the generosity of the Wards and their concern for the Patrol Division working dogs' safety."
