GREENSBORO, N.C. — There's no shortage of opinions and conversations about the change in the City of Greensboro's yard waste collection. Loose leaf collection, as residents know it, is no longer available, and the city delivered yard waste bins in the last couple of weeks.
You can no longer rake your leaves to the street and have them sucked up by the vacuum trucks. But if the City changed its mind, would these machines be able to go back into action again?
A WFMY News 2 viewer wrote in a Facebook comment, 'I heard the City of Greensboro will be utilizing loose leaf collection for all city-owned properties'.
2 Wants To Know took that information to the City of Greensboro. Chirs Marriott, the Interim Director, emailed a response.
The City did in fact sell the trucks and equipment at auction a couple of weeks ago. Generally, the sale of equipment sold at auction goes back into our fund to purchase of new equipment.
So, the idea that the machines are still around and could be used, even by the city, is a no.
