Boy who survived house fire will throw out first pitch at Winston-Salem Dash game

Chevy spent several weeks in the hospital, recovering from severe burns.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — UPDATE: The Winston-Salem Dash game was postponed to Sunday, July 21 due to weather. It has yet to be announced if Chevy Burroughs will throw the first pitch on Sunday.

A little boy who survived a fire at his home in Asheboro will have the honor of throwing out the first pitch at the Winston-Salem Dash game on Saturday, July 20.

10-year-old Chevy Burroughs' home caught fire on December 8. Chevy became trapped in his room, and his father punched through an outside wall to rescue him. Chevy suffered second and third-degree burns all over his body. He spent 47 days in the hospital.

The Dash said the team is going to recognize Chevy during the game for his remarkable recovery and resilience.

Chevy will throw out the first pitch at 6:45 p.m. on game day.
