HIGH POINT, N.C. — A carjacking suspect led a Concord police officer and a Rowan County sheriff's deputy on a high-speed chase Monday morning before eventually escaping in High Point, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

Highway Patrol said it was notified shortly after 6 a.m. Monday morning that the officer and deputy were involved in a chase on US 29 north heading toward Randolph County. Troopers responded to a call for assistance and also gave chase.

According to the Highway Patrol, the suspect lost control of his vehicle after exiting US 29 north onto Prospect Street in High Point and traveled off the roadway. As a trooper slowed down to follow the suspect, his vehicle was struck by an "allied agency vehicle."

The suspect was able to flee the area on foot in the aftermath of the crash. No injuries were sustained by the trooper or the allied agency member.

Highway Patrol said it is still investigating the incident. Make sure to follow WFMY News 2 for the latest on this developing situation.
