CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — A man was found dead in a creek less than a week after he was reported missing.
Michael Hallford, 44, was found in Wilson Creek near Brown Mountain Beach Road in Caldwell County on Tuesday. Hallford was found downstream from where his vehicle was located.
Hallford was reported missing on Friday, April 12, and was last seen on Wednesday. Investigators said no foul play is suspected in Hallford's death.
Hallford's family says he went to the area to fish and that's where his car was found.
Over a dozen search and rescue teams searched the area for Hallford.
"My brother Michael Hallford was found today, doing what he loved to due to," Hallford's sister wrote on Facebook. "He was an avid sports fisherman, he sure did love that river. We are together as a family now grieving and desperately need your continued support/prayers."
