2 Hurt in 3-Car Crash at Burlington Intersection: Police

The crash happened at the intersection of S. Church Street and Maple Avenue Monday night before 9.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington police, Burlington fire and Alamance County EMS responded to a traffic accident involving three cars Monday.

Officials say it happened at the intersection of S. Church Street and Maple Avenue around 8:15 p.m.

They say that Dewey Rainey was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe when Bethalynn Whitley ran a red light on a Toyota Prius at the intersection, hitting Rainey.

Whitley's car was then pushed into a Nissan Altima waiting at the red light. 

Whitley and another person in her car were taken to the hospital with mild injuries. No one else was hurt in the collisions.

Police say traffic was reduced to one lane for two hours while they cleared the scene.
