Man arrested for 'suspicious' Burlington house fire

Burlington police said they arrested Lennard Johnson late Wednesday night.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington police have arrested a man connected to a suspicious house fire in Burlington. 

Detectives said Lennard Johnson, 38, was identified as the suspect and arrested late Wednesday. He was given a $200,000 bond. 

Officers said he was arrested at the house the fire happened. 

The Burlington Fire Department responded to the fire on 512 Maple Avenue Tuesday afternoon. 

Fire crews consider the fire suspicious. 

Investigators say a small fire broke out at a home on Maple Avenue around 3:50 Tuesday afternoon. 

They said when fire crews arrived, they were met with one person who was trying to pour water on the fire. Crews were able to tame the fire and help another person safely escape from a trapped room. 

There are no injuries reported, but the house does have minor damage. The cause of the fire is unknown.
