GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro police said a drunk driver crossed the center line and hit Brittany Hall head-on earlier this year in September.
The family said Christmas will never be the same.
“I knew Christmas was her favorite holiday,” the mother of Brittany Hall, Carol Jones shared.
Jones said her Christmas gift to her daughter Brittany Hall lies in a memorial at her crash site.
“That was one way that I wanted to carry on her memory with her favorite holiday. I wanted to make something special that we can always go to remember,” Jones continued.
This week she and her grandson Ryly Mason put balloons, teddy bears, and a cross to remember a mom and daughter who loved her family dearly.
“I miss her and she was the best person I knew,” Hall’s 9-year-old son, Ryly Mason shared.
“Things are definitely not the same without Brittany in our life. She brought joy and so much happiness, and she had such a beautiful soul,” her mom added.
Back at home, their Christmas tree is filled with memories. Mason said he made each ornament with his mom.
“We used to make little animals and hang them on the tree with little foam pieces,” Mason shared.
Jones said her daughter Hall was on her way home from work in September when police said a drunk driver hit and killed her on US-220. Hall leaves behind a 9-year-old and 2-year-old son.
“I have a lot of faith in God. I know that God is with me every day even though at times, it's really hard to understand. You never think a parent would lose three children. I only keep going for my grandsons because they're going to need me,” Jones went on to say.
This Christmas, she wants to remind others not to drink and drive, and that the memories you create last a lifetime.
“Make good memories because the memories are what you hang onto and you never know day-to-day what's going to happen in your life,” Jones said.
“She will always be a part of my life no matter what. She's watching down on me every single day. Even when I go to school, she's going to be looking down on me,” Mason said.
Jones said she plans to adopt a highway in honor of her daughter Brittany Hall.
As for the driver that killed Hall, Onique Porter is facing several charges including, DWI and death by vehicle.
