ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — The man who attempted to rob a Brinks truck in Whitsett was awaiting trial for a similar crime in Rowan County, according to court documents.
Guilford County deputies said Devonte Eugene Scott, 26, of Abermarle, was shot and killed by a Brinks employee while trying to rob the truck in the Food Lion parking lot on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
Court records show Scott was arrested in Rowan County in June. Investigators said he and another man planned to rob a Brinks driver outside Five Below. Scott was charged with conspiracy to commit a robbery with a dangerous weapon in that case.
