GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A crowd gathered at Preyer Brewing in Greensboro on Thursday night to support a Triad teacher.
The family of Erica Castillo hosted the "Brews to Benefit Erica" event.
The money will help pay her medical bills, after a horrible car crash broke several bones.
"Her body is a wreck. She has broken bones from her neck to her feet," said Caroline Walker, a friend. "So to be able to gather and celebrate her - she's alive - she's improving everyday, and we're just really thankful for that."
Investigators say Castillo was driving to Ramseur Elementary School last week when an impaired driver hit her head-on.
She remains at UNC trauma center, where she's already undergone two surgeries.
The driver who hit her faces several charges, including DWI.
There is a GoFundMe page to support Erica's medical costs.
