Man arrested after bomb threat cancels Monday sessions at Davidson County Courthouse, sheriff says

Deputies searched the courthouse and didn't find anything.

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies said they arrested a man accused of making a bomb threat at the Davidson County Courthouse on Monday. 

The threat came in shortly before 9 a.m. and canceled all court sessions for the day. 

The courthouse was evacuated while crews searched floor by floor for anything suspicious. Sheriff Richie Simmons said they found nothing. 

Court officials said the building will reopen to employees, but all sessions are canceled for Monday. 

Deputies arrested Derrick Black, 52, and charged him with one count of felony Making a False Report Concerning Destructive Device – Public Building.

He is being held in the Davidson County Detention Center. Deputies did not disclose if he is being held on bond.
