NORTH TOPSAIL BEACH, N.C. — First responders and law enforcement responded to reports of a body found ashore at Camp Lejeune on Sunday morning. Officials confirmed that the body is that of Mainor Perez Velasquez of Goldsboro on Monday afternoon.
The teen had been reported missing in the New River Inlet on the Fourth of July, leading to a days-long investigation by the North Topsail Beach Fire Department, Police and Marine Fisheries.
