GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Bellemeade Street Parking Deck will be demolished, according to the city of Greensboro.
Engineering staff for the city have confirmed there are some structural issues related to the materials used when the parking deck was built in 1989.
“The City reviewed multiple engineering options, determining it is not cost effective to invest additional money into the aging facility,” City Manager Nathaniel ‘Trey’ Davis said. “It’s time to move toward long term solutions, which involves preparing the deck for demolition.”
City officials are asking those who park in the Bellemeade Street Parking Deck to find other affordable parking options by Feb. 15.
“The goal is to ensure parkers have adequate time to make plans to relocate,” Davis said. “In light of this potential inconvenience, parkers who relocate to another City-owned facility, are eligible for a 50% discount from the current monthly rate.”
The city said the discounted rate is valid for six months.
