ELLERBE, N.C. -- After he stepped out of the ring, Andre the Giant retired to a 46-acre estate in North Carolina.
Now, 20 years after his death, an auction scheduled for Saturday hopes to attract bidders for the land that was the last home for the 7-foot-4, 500-pound wrestler. The ranch is in Ellerbe, 90 miles southwest of Raleigh.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports that for the last decade of his life, Andre Roussimoff tooled around rural Richmond County on a three-wheeler, raising Texas longhorns and partying in the woods with his friends.
The land to be auctioned includes a pair of streams, a barbecue house and a workshop. It will be divided into two tracts for the auction. Another portion of Andre's original land sold shortly after his death.
