Alan Duncan Resigning From Guilford Co. Board of Education

Alan Duncan's last day with the Board of Education will be June 30.

GREENSBORO, NC (WFMY) - Chairman Alan Duncan is resigning from the Guilford County Board of Education.

Wednesday, Tina Firesheets with Guilford County Schools said Duncan took the role of District 5 Representative on the NC State Board of Education in recent months.

Duncan is resigning to give more focus to this new role at the state level. His last day will be June 30.

Duncan wrote a resignation letter to the board which reads in part: "It has been the greatest privilege imaginable to serve children and our employees over the last 18 years...Thank you to those students and the families that support them for letting me have a front row seat to observe their amazing accomplishments."

A Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Thursday.
