300+ illegal guns seized in Alamance County

They say they are going to highlight the number of firearms seized from juveniles.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The Alamance County Sheriff's Office held a joint press conference with Burlington Police to discuss gun seizures. Officials presented the number of firearms confiscated by law enforcement officers over the last year.

So far this year, the Alamance County Sheriff's Office has seized nearly 200 guns with the majority of them being handguns. With that, they have arrested 120 people.

In Burlington, the police department says so far this year they have taken over 100 illegal guns off the streets. That is on average 14 guns seized every month.

"In our society today, we're seeing a lot of gun-related violence," Sheriff Terry Johnson said. "We will continue to work hand and hand with our partners."

ATF also worked with the Alamance County Sheriff's Office and the Burlington Police Department to help pull these guns off the streets.
