ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. -- People who live in Alamance County can now apply online for pistol purchase permits. The service began Tuesday, July 1. Applicants pay a credit card fee to use the online service plus the cost of the permit, which remains the same.
The Sheriff's office says the service is intended to make the permit process more convenient. In 2013 the Alamance County Sheriff's Office processed 1,653 purchase permits. As of June 30th of this year its processed 484 permits.
People can also apply for a concealed carry permit online. This will allow county residents to print the application at home, complete it and return it to the Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office said this will help make the process faster.
