ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A deputy superintendent for the Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) has been suspended with pay Tuesday, according to the district.
ABSS said Lowell Rogers is accused of failing to report a crime against a juvenile and hasn't provided much detail about the incident, but released the following statement:
"Deputy Superintendent Lowell Rogers has been suspended with pay due to recent charges of failure to report a crime against a juvenile. ABSS takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students. We have been cooperating fully with law enforcement and we want to assure you that we are taking steps to address it. Above all, we want to assure our community that we remain dedicated to providing a caring, supportive learning environment for all our students."
On Monday, the school district announced that they recently parted ways with the school CFO Kim McVey, amid their budget crisis. At that time, Superintendent Dr. Dain Butler had appointed Rogers to oversee their finances.
Rogers has been employed with the district since July 2022, ABSS said.
