We did some digging into the history of the old plant. Here's what we found.

Plant 1, formerly known as Dixie Furniture, starting operating in 1901.

According to a 2003 article by the Lexington Dispatch, about 90 workers made bedroom furniture in two buildings covering 90,000 square feet during the early 1900's.

As Dixie Furniture business blossomed, the company expanded throughout downtown Lexington. The complex eventually covered 31 acres of land, and the group of buildings became known as Lexington's Home Brands Plant 1.

In the summer of 2003, the plant closed down as a result of outsourcing.
