Power restored in Kernersville on Memorial Day weekend

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — UPDATE: As of 6:38 p.m., power has been restored to the area.

UPDATE: As of 2:20 p.m. the Duke Energy outage map is showing over 400 customers are still without power.

Over 800 people are out of power in the northern part of Kernersville Saturday, according to Duke Energy's power outage map

There were three sections outlined within the map that were out of power. The first along Old Thomasville Rd., the second the area around Blair St., and third within the Erwin Heights area. 

A viewer that lives along Old Thomasville Rd. told WFMY News 2 their power has been out since around 8:30 p.m. Friday night. Within that area, the outage map says 850 customers are without power, power was first reported out at 9:23 p.m.

Duke Energy said the cause of the outage is from storms on Friday night causing downed power lines in the area.

The sections along Blair St. and Erwin Heights were cleared from the outage map before 10 a.m. Saturday. 

It is not known when power will be restored.
