GREENSBORO, N.C. — Banknote Corporation of America, a commercial security printer headquartered in Greensboro, is set to begin work on a new 20,000 square-foot expansion to their facility at 6109 Corporate Park Dr.
According to the company, the new development will create 50 new jobs and bring in a total investment of $28 million.
Banknote is known for producing high-security documents to various governments, financial institutions and consumer brands. The company's first big break came in 1979 when they began producing private stamps in over 100 years.
“It’s another great day for Guilford County as we begin our new chapter with Banknote,” said Melvin “Skip” Alston, Chairman of Guilford County Board of Commissioners. “This is one more example of a world-class company deciding to deepen its roots in the Triad, and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”
There is no information available about the schedule for the expansion, when it is set to begin or when it will finally be completed. Make sure to follow WFMY News 2 for updates on this developing story.
“The City has been focused on securing investments throughout Greensboro. This expansion supports that effort and our commitment to add diverse jobs to the workforce,” said Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan.
