4th Of July Events In The Triad

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Celebrating our country's independence wouldn't be complete without fireworks, family, and tons of fun!

GREENSBORO:

• Fun Fourth Festival:

  Events are scheduled in Downtown Greensboro and at the White Oak Amphitheatre at Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Fun Fourth Festival events include:

• Thursday, July 3rd - Kickoff Block Party - 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. at Hamburger Square Park. Come join the party to benefit Fun Fourth. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. enjoy the sounds of Black & Blue Experience. Admission is $5 Free parking available in the Greene Street Deck and area surface lots.

• Friday, July 4th - Independence Day Parade & Street Festival in the Greensboro Historic District downtown – 9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. The parade begins at Greene and Bellemeade, proceeds south on Greene, west on Washington, ending at Eugene Street.

• Fun Fourth POPS Concert and Fireworks – 7:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. – White Oak Amphitheatre

At 7:30 p.m. enjoy the sounds of the Philharmonia of Greensboro followed by Independence Day Ceremonies and the Fun Fourth Fireworks Finale. The Fun Fourth Festival has been cited as one of the Top Twenty Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society.

Artillery demonstrations will also be taking place from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the site of the Greene monument. There will also be guided battlefield tours at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and colonial dance demonstrations at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

All events are free and open to the public.

HIGH POINT:

• Uncle Sam Jam: Gates open at Oak Hollow Festival Park at 1841 Eastchester Drive at 4:30 p.m. Fireworks are set to kick off at 9:45 p.m. Includes live music from Josh Thompson, The Gal Friday Band, and Alec Bailey. There will also be food vendors and activities for children.

Fee is $10 per car. Parking will be available at the park and surrounding lots.

WINSTON-SALEM:

• Independence Naturalization Ceremony at Old Salem: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will administer the Oath of Allegiance to America's 50 newest citizens at 10 a.m. For more information, call Ana Santiago Public Affairs Officer at (305) 793-9919.
• Red, White, And Blue Party at Children's Museum: will include an arts, crafts, parade, and popsicles from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
• Winston-Salem Dash Fireworks: Game starts at 7:00 p.m. at BB&T Field, followed by a fireworks show. For ticket information, click here.

KERNERSVILLE:

• Kernersville 5K Race and Parade: 5K race will start at 8:30 a.m. with registration from 7:00 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. Organizers say the race will start at Bank of North Carolina at 211 Broad Street. For more information or to register, click here.

The parade starts at Kernersville Elementary after the last runner has finished the race.

LEXINGTON:

• Fantastic 4^th of July Festival at Finch Park: Free event including music, rides, inflatables, and amusements. Will be held at 15 Paul Beck Road from 6-9:30 pm with fireworks starting around 9 pm. For more information call (336) 248-3960.

EDEN:

• 19th Annual July 4^th Fun Parade: Parade begins at 9: 30 a.m. and everyone is welcome! Organizers are asking people to meet in the parking lot of Fair Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. The route is through the neighborhood. Participants are asked to decorate their bikes, wagons, strollers, golf carts, and floats and of course, wear red, white, and blue!

ARCHDALE:

• Celebration at Creekside Park: Celebration starts at 2:00 p.m. with amusement rides followed by food vendors, craft vendors, and pony rides opening at 3:00 p.m. Part Time Party Band will be taking the stage at 7:00 p.m., followed by fireworks at dark. Organizers advise people to come early because parking will be limited.

CLIMAX:

• Red Cross Civitans Independence Day Celebration: The organization will be holding their celebration on July 5 at 4:00 p.m. complete with a water slide, inflatables, dunking booth, food, and a showing of the movie "Frozen." Happening at 3517 Randolph Church Rd.

MT. AIRY:

• "Spirit of America's Hometown" And Fireworks: There will be a reading of the "Declaration of Independence" before the parade starts at 10 a.m. in downtown on North Main Street. There will also be a pie-eating contest in the courtyard of the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History following the parade.

PINNACLE:

• Shoals Ruritans 4th of July Celebration: Taking place at Shoals Recreation Park, located at 2964 Shoals Rd. The parade starts at 6 p.m. Event is free to the public, but hot dogs and drinks will be 50 cents each. Fireworks will also follow.

MAYODAN:

• Western Rockingham Firefighter's Association's Independence Day Celebration: Will be held on Saturday, July 5 from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. at McMichael High School. Includes a special appearance by Smokey the Bear, food vendors, arts and crafts, and live music and entertainment. Firefighters will also be challenging each other at their daily activities starting at 9 a.m.

MEBANE:

• July 4th Family Music Festival and Fireworks: Starts at 7 p.m. at the Mebane Arts and Community Center. Admission is free and will include fireworks and music from Crossover Drive. (rock, funk, and soul group) Weather-permitting, officials say the fireworks will start at 9:40 p.m.

THOMASVILLE:

• HiToms Baseball Fireworks: Game starts at 7:00 p.m. and fireworks will follow the game. For more information, visit the HiToms website.
