PINK HILL, N.C. — A 3 year-old-boy died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Sunday.
According to CBS affiliate, WNCT, the Public Information Officer for Lenoir County, Bryan Hanks said the shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday inside a home in Pink Hill, NC.
The toddler was taken to the hospital where he later died.
On Monday, officials identified the child as Clarence Roland Byrd IV, WNCT reported.
Evidence was sent to the NC State Bureau of Investigations lab for analysis.
Officials said criminal charges may be filed.
