You expect to see a warning label on alcohol and cigarettes. You're used to seeing a health warning label on those, but a light bulb?
Consumer Reports confirms starting in August, you'll see this label on all Lighting Science LED's. It says, "Exposure to certain electric lights may cause biological effects, some potentially disruptive."
What's that about?
LED lights, like your smartphone screen, emit more blue light than other light bulbs. And that increases the risk of sleep problems and mood disorders. Electric lights are also linked to breast cancer, obesity and type 2 diabetes. However, more research needs to be done to determine the level of risk.
LED lights promote alertness, which is good during the day, but can disrupt sleep patterns at night.
Consumer Reports recommends finding an L-E-D light with warmer color and less blue for the bedroom.
