What Parts Of Those Holiday Packages Get Recycled?

Should that package go in the trash or the recycling bin? The difference could cost you your recycling bin.

The packages are coming, and so are all the packing materials. Some should head to the trash and some you should recycle. The city of Greensboro helps us sort it out.

Paper envelopes with no bubble wrap inside, cardboard shipping blocks, and broken down cardboard boxes all go in the recycling bin.

Those foam peanuts and Styrofoam blocks are trash. And the bubble wrap and plastic air pockets are also trash. But if you really want to recycle them, some shipping stores like the UPS will take the stuff and send it off to a special processing plant for you.

If you toss the wrong thing in your recycle bin, the city could take it away from you. The city started a program in the summer where if you get caught three times, you lose your bin. Since July, a recycling inspector has worked to make sure all materials in containers are in fact recyclable.

But that's not the only tracking method. The recycling trucks have cameras. Download the GSO Collects app for free. it will tell you when your collection day is and what can go in the bins.
