Man it's so cramped in these coach seats. And too often there's no room left in the overhead either. Everyone is carrying on their bags these days so they don't have to pay fees.
Soon, you could use your Skymiles points to pay those fees and check that bag for free! AJC.com confirms Delta is testing out a new points for fees program.
The thinking is flights require a lot of rewards points to book. Instead of waiting for them to build up, customers can cash in on other services. At this point, Delta hasn't given specific numbers on how many points you need for certain fees but does say it will be significantly less points than booking airfare.
Right now if you get on a Delta flight here's what you can expect to pay in some fees:
24-hour WiFi pass: $16
Change fees: up to $200
1st checked baggage fee: $25
Seat upgrades: Vary in price and are based on availability
