Starbucks issued a recall Tuesday for its reusable stainless steel beverage straws after they cut children's mouths.
Starbucks has received four reports of young children suffering mouth lacerations while drinking from the straws. The company has issued a warning that children should not use or be allowed to use the straws, because they are rigid and pose an injury risk.
The straws were packaged and sold in sets of three. They were also sold as part of a combination package with stainless steel beverage cups. The straws have a ridge at the bottom that keep the straw attached to the lid of the cup.
About 2.5 million units were sold in the United States, and an additional 301,000 were sold in Canada.
Customers with questions can contact Starbucks at 800-782-7282 from 3 a.m. to midnight PST daily. U.S. customers who desire more information on the recall can also visit CPSC. Customers from Canada can visit Health Canada.
