ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Ever wonder how many car accidents happen every day in the United States? The answer is around 16,000. This means on most days there are about 16,000 insurance claims filed.
One of those many claims filed on one of those days was by Anne Wellman’s husband. He was involved in a major car crash in Greensboro.
“They were hit in the back, it was an 8-car pileup, the car hit their car,” Wellman said.
Her husband was injured, and the crash caused a bit of damage to his truck. The back end was crumpled, and the tow hitch was damaged. A claim was immediately filed with his insurance company.
‘When we did reach someone (at the insurance company) they were giving him the runaround,” Wellman said.
The insurance company quickly paid his repair bill but did not pay his medical bills or lost wages. After a few months of trying to resolve the issue, the couple emailed WFMY News 2.
“Oh my God for months and months this went on,” Wellman said.
After speaking with Wellman, we contacted the insurance company and sent them copies of some of the medical bills. A representative assured us someone would investigate the case and get back to us.
It wasn’t that long after we spoke with a representative from the insurance company that Wellman called us back. The insurance company agreed to settle the claim and sent the couple a check for around $1,800.
“It was great, (we) had tried everything,” Wellman said.
