Start by trimming your friends list to only people you really know. They can fall for scams and get their account hacked or post dangerous links. Try the birthday method. When someone's birthday comes up, wish them a happy birthday or delete them.

And take another look at other Facebook-owned apps like Instagram and Whatsapp. They can track you on other sites.

"I want Facebook to stop turning my likes into advertisements."

Go to settings, Ad Settings, "Ads that Include your social actions" and hit "No one."

"I want Facebook to stop using facial recognition technology to find my face."

If that creeps you out. Hit "privacy shortcuts"  then "Control face recognition", "Edit", and then "No."

"I want to limit how much Facebook's partners track me"

Go to "settings," "apps and websites," "active," and then click the box next to the app's name and remove.

"I want to limit who can see my profile information, photos, and posts "

You'll have to go back and change the privacy settings for previous posts and photos. But for future posts go to "settings," "privacy," "Who can see your future posts?," and "Edit."
