Can drinking more water help with weight loss? Here's what a study found

A Novant Health doctor says drinking water helps cut calories consumed and burn fat!

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Something in the kitchen can help you lose weight, but you won't find it in the fridge. Instead, a Novant Health doctor says it's from the sink!

Dr. Alicia Beal says whenever you feel like snacking, try drinking a glass of water first. Then see if you are still hungry after that.

"Drinking water also makes you feel a little fuller. Sometimes people can't tell the difference between hunger and thirst. I'm actually one of those people. And so you think you're hungry, but you're actually thirsty, and if you will drink water, you'll find out that you're not actually hungry and you'll consume fewer calories that way too."

A 2016 study found people who drink two glasses of water before a meal ate 22% less than those who didn't drink water prior to eating. Johns Hopkins researchers say after two glasses of water, your brain starts to register that you're full and not as hungry.

Research also shows that drinking more water can help you exercise better, it helps your body prevent bloating, and helps your body burn fat easier.
