KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Dewberry Farms in Kernersville planted 105,000 tulips for folks to pick & see. Scammers are now trying to cash in and sell fake tickets. Dewberry Farms put out a warning on Facebook and Instagram.
“I noticed on one of my posts there was a person who wrote that something came up and they have tickets for sale and I thought hmm. Then I saw on another post, someone wrote they had an emergency and they had tickets for sale,” said Wendi Johnson of Dewberry Farms.
She was right to be suspicious. A customer sent her these messages showing how the scammer tells the customer to make the payment for the tickets and the name change will happen.
The customer asks to send the tickets first. The scammer writes the tickets are not allowed to be sent without the name change. Big red flag here, as the tickets aren't known by name.
“We have a bar code and a number. I banned the person, but they keep changing their name. Let's face it, times are tough for people, they just want an experience and they're robbing them of their money and that's not right,” said Johnson.
Just like tickets for Hamilton, Disney On Ice, or in this case, tulips, always go to the source to buy your tickets. If you have a question about needing to give back your tickets because there is an emergency, especially in this situation, go to the source.
When it comes to Dewberry Farms, you can get tickets only from their website, Dewberrymanor.com. Right now, the u-pick Tulip event should go on through April 10th and possibly longer depending on the weather.
