GREENSBORO, N.C. — Take a look at this video. The car was engulfed in flames. Do you think the owner's insurance is going to cover this?

This and many other crazy things can happen to anyone, especially during the holidays.

Christopher Cook, Founder and President of Alliance Insurance, joined WFMY News 2's "2 Wants to Know" segment, to answer any questions about insurance coverage and claims.

Cook's common answer: "Insurance covers stupid mistakes."

What happens if your car catches on fire from dry leaves under it?

Most people will have consumer damage coverage on their cars, especially if it's older. This will cover the damage to the car.

What if your turkey catches fire on Thanksgiving? Is this covered?

Yes, home insurance covers the fire damage. It is always cover by insurance.

It's been a while and you haven't heard the kids. You later find your toilet clogged with toys and water damage on the floors. Does your insurance cover this?

Yes, water damage covered by insurance. Insurance companies typically will approve a claim if it's sudden and/or accidental.  Now if you have a slow leak, it will commonly be denied. This is something that should be caught during routine maintenance.

What about your Christmas lights? Have your Christmas lights ever caused a power shortage in your home?

Yes, this is covered. Typically, you pay a deductible that will cover the damage.

Lastly, does your insurance cover stolen Christmas gifts?

Home owners insurance and renters insurance will cover personal items that's stolen. Automobile insurance only covers the car. It will not cover items that's inside of it.
