Apartment complex refuses to pay back security deposit and charges students who left apartment clean

Jordan and Jaden believed they left the unit clean and there was no major damage – so when they received a $370 charge they were shocked.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A pair of North Carolina A&T students are moving up and off to better things.

They recently moved out of their apartment, but to their surprise they never got back their security deposit.

The apartment said it was left a mess but the students swear they cleaned up- to resolve the issue  2 Wants to Know's Kevin Kennedy got to the bottom of it.

For 12 months everything was fine not too bad.

Jordan and Jaden Ruff shared an apartment with two other A&T students – when the brothers moved out they cleaned up.

Jordan and Jaden believed they left the unit clean and there was no major damage – so when they received a $370 charge they were shocked.

The apartment was not just keeping the deposit but charging them to clean and fix it.

The two other roommates staying and yet Jordan and Jaden were paying.

So instead of writing a check for the cleaning fee the brothers called us and our 2WTK team went to work.

The apartment complex kept the $200 deposit -and while the brothers didn't agree with that – mom and dad were okay so the boys moved on.

Both boys are studying engineering. I think we engineered a fair outcome.
