GREENSBORO, N.C. — GREENSBORO, N.C. — Need to talk to a lawyer? How about doing that for free?
For the 17th year, the North Carolina Bar Association and Foundation ask lawyers from all over the state to volunteer for a call-in event.
4ALL Statewide Service Day
Friday, March 1, 2024
10 a.m.- 7 p.m.
Phone Line: 336-355-6262
You call and can ask a lawyer about almost anything! Attorneys specializing in family law, employment, housing issues, wills, probate, and taxes will be taking calls all day.
In the week leading up to 4All, WFMY News 2 will have several of the lawyers participating join us on our newscasts to answer questions. For example, lately, we've heard a lot about layoffs. If a company gives you a severance package, should you just take it without question?
“No. I would highly encourage you, no matter how much the severance is to speak to an attorney. We can look at those and help you negotiate the terms and help you understand what you're giving away. In North Carolina severance is a gratuity, but that doesn't mean it doesn't come without strings,” said Nicole Patino, of Nicole Patino Law Firm.
4 All Statewide Service Day is your chance to talk one-on-one with a lawyer to get the legal information you need to know about your situation. To prepare for your call you should:
-Be patient! You may have to wait as thousands of calls are expected to come in.
-Write down your basic facts in short, concise statements: who, what, where, and when the issue happened + a timeline
-Be ready to explain what you've done to resolve your issue so far and what you want or need to happen
-Have a pen and paper ready to write down the infrmation the attorney gives you
The number to 4ALL Statewide Service Day is different for every region:
