GREENSBORO, NC -- In honor of the ACC tournament we did the 2TEST bracket style! We started with eight products and asked you to vote to narrow the field. In the third round we narrowed it down to 2 products: The Stone Wave microwave cooker and the trusty cane. The Stone Wave with claims to make gourmet meals right in the microwave won.

It costs $9.99 at various places (Walmart, Target, Bed Bath and Beyond). Many of the recipes call for ingredients that are either already cooked-- like canned chicken-- but not all. We decided to test the Stone Wave with both kinds of recipes.

The first test was with ingredients you basically assemble. Pineapple Upside Down Cake-- in less than 2 minutes. The first minute is to melt the butter, you mix in a yellow snack cake, crushed pineapple, brown sugar and 30 more seconds in the microwave.

Meteorologist Tim Buckely came in from the weather garden to help us out with Surf and turf. Yes, we're going to cook beef tenderloin and crabmeat in the microwave. Tim added the browning sauce and the crabmeat. I like mine medium well so it's 4 minutes in the microwave 2 min if you like it rare. We went on with the newscast and waited.

The recipes we used for the 2Test:

STONE WAVE SURF AND TURF

Place one beef tenderloin fillet in the cooker.

Add ½ tsp of water.

Pour ½ tsp of Kitchen Bouquet ™ browning sauce over top of fillet.

Open one 6oz. can of flaked crab meat and rinse & drain. Put the entire contents of the can in the Stone Wave all around the fillet, in the space between the fillet and the side of the cooker.

Note: Other forms of crab meat OR flaked lobster meat OR crab-flavored fish may be used as well.

Drizzle melted butter over the crab meat to taste.

Microwave for 2 min. for rare or 4 min. for medium well (no pink).

Note: Microwave cooking times may vary.

STONE WAVE PINEAPPLE UPSIDE DOWN CAKE

Put 1 tbsp of butter and 1 tbsp of brown sugar in the Stone Wave.

Cover and microwave for 1 minute to melt the butter; mix all ingredients.

Put ¼ cup of crushed pineapple in the cooker.

Put 2 tbsp of pineapple juice from the fruit in the cooker.

Put 1 Sara Lee ™ buttery sunshine cake in the cooker upside down and gently press it into the fruit.

Cover and microwave for 30 seconds then let it set for 1 minute.

Remove the cover from the Stone Wave.

Put a small plate or saucer over the Stone Wave. Holding the plate in place, quickly turn the cooker over onto the plate and allow the cake with sauce to fall out onto the plate.

Option: Before serving, drizzle some chocolate sauce over the top of the cake.

Note: Microwave cooking times may vary.
