YANCEYVILLE, N.C. -- Two guns were taken from a student at Dillard Middle School in Caswell County on Friday.
Caswell County Schools Superintendent Dr. Sandra Carter says sheriff's deputies confiscated an unloaded handgun and a BB gun.
Dr. Carter says the school principal informed Caswell County Sheriff's Deputies that a student may have a firearm on campus.
She says the school went into a lockdown for about 30 minutes and no students or staff were in any danger at any time. She says a message went out to parents about the lockdown.
Dr. Carter says the sheriff's office is handling the investigation.
