2 Arrested After Meth Lab Found in Surry County Home: Sheriff

Investigators found several tools and chemicals inside the Dobson home used to make meth.

Sheriff Hiatt is pointing at some of the tools used to make and produce methamphetamine that were found during the search.

DOBSON, N.C. — Surry County Deputies busted a meth lab operation in a Dobson, NC home. 

Two people were arrested. Grant Edward Slaughter and Wendy Jean Turner face several charges related to making and selling meth. Turner was also charged with misdemeanor child abuse, after investigators found a child under the age of ten who was living inside the home while meth was being produced.

The Surry County Sheriff's Office says investigators searched the Dobson home on January 11.

During the search, Sheriff Hiatt said one of the bottles started to produce a gas vapor, and investigators had to properly secure the bottle, so it wouldn't harm or explode while they were on scene. 

A special unit with the NC SBI was called in to help with the removal of the harmful products. 

Social Services is assisting with the situation involving the child.
