WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man is dead after a crash in Winston-Salem.
Winston-Salem police said they responded to a crash on the ramp from I-40 westbound to US 421 southbound Sunday shortly before 11 p.m.
After initial investigation, officers discovered a car was driving on the ramp from I-40 westbound to US 421 southbound when the car ran off the road.
Police said Zachary Gordon, 40, the driver and sole occupant of the car, was ejected from the car and landed in the southbound lanes of US 421 where he was struck by oncoming traffic.
Officers said Gordon was declared dead on the scene.
The WSPD Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) responded to the scene and assumed investigative responsibility for the crash.
