CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Lights, Camera, Colbert! Tuesday marks one week until Stephen Colbert debuts as host of The Late Show on CBS.

He grew up in a house that was build in 1810, but his family lived there for about 20 years in the late 1990s. Colbert is the youngest of 11 kids and some who know him said he wasn't always a person who demanded the spotlight.

"He was very smart. I always thought he was kind of reserved," Michael Trouche said. He gives tours around Charleston and knows the Colbert family. "I would have never imagined him growing up to become a comedian."

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert premieres Sept. 8 on WFMY News 2 at 11:35pm.
